Residency Portugal

9. 11. – 1. 12. 2023

Supported by a national renewal fund.

During November and December 2023, I carried out a study project in Portugal with the main aim of exploring innovative practices in theatre and exhibitions aimed at children and their parents. The project involved travelling to several locations and interacting with the local and international arts community.

The first stop was Lisbon, where I spent several days visiting galleries and museums to get inspiration and materials for further work. Then I moved on to the village of Vale de Telha, which is known for its artistic community. Here I worked on the concept and script of a new original performance. I created watercolour studies and experimented with different artistic techniques for their future application in theatre practice.

During my stay I met artists from different parts of the world, including Brazil, USA, Hungary and other countries. The collaboration with Hungarian student Eliza Zimmerman, with whom I discussed artistic interventions in public space, was very inspiring. Together we also visited local galleries and shared our experiences with the intersection of art in everyday life.

The final part of the project was spent in Lagos, where I finished working on the script and also visited other art galleries. Here I made contact with American artist Chance Lane, who provided valuable insights into the differences between the American and European art scenes. Besides the artistic inspiration, Lagos also appealed to me because of its natural beauty, which added another dimension to my work.

My stay in Portugal allowed me to focus on creative work in a new environment and enriched me with valuable international contacts that will surely be reflected in my future work.
